Innovate Oregon and Construct, alongside courageous school leaders, are launching Innovate Initiatives-- regionally across Oregon. Our goal is to inspire and create a culture of inventive problem solving and empower the next generation of innovators to take on Oregon’s biggest challenges.

Participants benefit from collaboration with industry leaders in areas that include natural resources, manufacturing and hi-tech, and the creative community of designers, coders, and makers.

Phase 1

A Community Event

We bring together 20 students, 20 educators, and 20 community members for fun day of collaborative learning.

MAKE-A-THON: A day-long experience that integrates design, coding, and engineering to solve a real problem.

Phase 2

School Culture Shift

Unleashing the capacity for creativity and innovation school-wide through a set of interrelated professional and leadership development services that engage students, teachers, and principals.

School Retool for Administrators. School Leaders learn and practice a “hack mindset” as they work to develop new structures for deeper learning across their campus.

Breakaway for educators. Teachers learn and practice new mindsets and behaviors. They engage in rapid prototyping, iteration, and a human centered approach to curriculum building--developing deeper learning opportunities for every student.

Breaker for Students. Breaker Design Challenges combine design thinking and entrepreneurship in a purposed based learning experience. Beginning with a real world system level problem and task students with designing product or service solutions.  Design challenges add relevancy and immediacy to everyday learning.

Phase 3

The Creation of i3 or Maker Space Centers

Build it and they will come…first the culture shift then new infrastructure

In under-resourced communities- both rural and urban - Oregon students need a path to step into the innovation economy. i3 Centers for Innovation, Invention, and Inspiration allow students to see themselves as part of the 21st century economy.

Innovate Initiatives are Currently Underway in Oregon's Mid-Valley region and in Central Oregon.
