Gina brings more than 20 years of child development and entrepreneurial experience to her leadership of Construct Foundation.

As President, Gina focuses on shaping and guiding a unique strategy for Construct that complements other, dynamic efforts intended to radically shift teaching and learning in Oregon public schools. She identifies programs for incubation, listens to teachers, to principals, and works with funders to find new ways to align education stakeholders for collective impact. Gina manages the day-to-day operations of Construct.

Working through the Social Innovation Incubator at Portland State University’s School of Business Administration--where she received a Certificate in Business of Social Innovation in 2014--Gina founded Construct in 2013. Previously, she spent 10 years working in youth programs across the country, and in Silicon Valley for five years, building design teams for high-tech companies.

Currently, Gina is a trustee at Concordia University and co-chair of the 3toPhD subcommittee. She serves on the board of Tinker Camp; is a member of the STEAM Coalition of Northeast Portland; and is a five-time co-chair of the Governor Victor Atiyeh Leadership in Education Award Ceremony which has raised more than $3.5 million to date, benefitting Concordia student scholarships and the 3 to PhD initiative. Jami Fluke

School Leader Ambassador

Combine enthusiasm, passion, and fun, and you have Jami Fluke. In her 25th year in education, Jami has taught elementary, middle, and alternative school, and most recently served as the Principal of Dayton Junior High and High School. Jami is setting a new standard for how to lead, inspire, and empower others.

Jami has spent the last several years creating a school culture where others feel safe to be innovative and take risks, are inspired to learn from each other, and are empowered to make positive change in their school, community and world.

In 2016, Jami ushered in a district-wide initiative through her collaboration with Innovate Oregon and Construct.  She helped her teachers and other school leaders dismantle and then reassemble the systems that had become barriers to learning. She launched design challenges across the school, engaging the broader Dayton community in the education of its young people, and guided her teachers in creating new curriculum like Genius Hour for all students.  Her team used funds from a CTE Revitalization grant awarded by the Oregon Department of Education to renovate the i3 Center, upgrading their technical equipment to make CTE-type projects more accessible to students, as well as allow them a space in school to have complete creative freedom.

In 2018, Dayton High School was chosen to have a varsity team to participate in Eurekafest, a four day event organized by the Lemelson-MIT Program and held at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, MA.

After just three years, Jami’s efforts and commitment to this work ultimately led to a 14% increase in graduation rates at Dayton. Today, Dayton’s high school graduates 96.8% of its students -- making this rural community one of the leaders in completion rates in Oregon.

Gaby is excited to join Construct to support the mission of shifting school culture, teaching and learning to better align those needs.
